4 Ave NW - Front Yard

Xeriscaping is a very, very popular practice this days in landscaping in Calgary. Xeriscaping is where all the green ground cover is removed (usually sod) and completely replaced with a rock or mulch bed, significantly reducing the amount of water needed for that area to look nice (IE: having green grass). For this client, that is exactly what we did: we removed all the sod and replaced it with a rock bed made from 20mm Creston Valley Crush and then added a number of trees, shrubs and boulders. Now, the plants will need lots of water in the beginning, but once they are well establish they will consume far less water than a lawn will and will still look good, as well as reducing the required. It is an excellent strategy to reduce water consumption and maintenance time or costs.

Alpine Vista was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end! Chad and his stellar crew replaced our front lawn with rundle rock and shrubs and also planted two new trees in our backyard and pruned an existing tree. We are delighted with the results! Chad is a thoughtful person who perfected a design for us with patience, care and expertise. We were included in all decisions in a friendly manner with pertinent suggestions and follow through. We will use Alpine Vista again next spring!
